Hotel STAR rating system and what it means? The best answer to that is its a guide to quality and level of facilities and service offered against the price. Obviously a 3***star hotel in a given area will be less expensive than a 5*****star hotel in the same area.
In general, 5*****star hotels must have a minimum number of serving staff in employ for each guest. The room sizes must meet minimum preset levels, the leisure facilities must be extensive. In a 3***star hotel you can expect room service, a bathroom ensuite, often a swimming pool, additional leisure facilities such as a gym or sauna. There will be a bar and restaurant normally with room service available most of the day.
The levels and the standards are set locally and therefore overall scales of quality are difficult to predict but in general around Spain 3***star hotels start from approximately 50 euros per night rising to 90 euros and 5*****star hotels start from over 100 euros per night rising steeply depending on the type of rooms or suites available.
